Samsung's skin on top of Android — designed so big screens can still be reached with one thumb.

One UI launched in November 2018 alongside Android 9, replacing Samsung Experience, which had itself succeeded the notorious TouchWiz. The whole idea is in the name: as phones grew, One UI pushed interactive elements to the bottom and headers up top, so content stays within a thumb's reach. Its version numbers have tracked Android's ever since.

The skin rolls out across Samsung's Galaxy phones and tablets. A pared-down variant, One UI Watch, runs on the wearables after Samsung dropped Tizen for Wear OS in 2021. The reception has swung between "bloated" and "the best Android skin going" — sometimes in the same review.
