Dell's own entry-level storage — direct-attached enclosures and tape libraries beneath the pricier SAN lines.
PowerVault is Dell's in-house storage line for simpler needs: direct-attached disk enclosures (DAS), small modular arrays and tape libraries for backup. Unlike EqualLogic and Compellent, which Dell acquired, PowerVault has been the company's own brand since the early 2000s, aimed at smaller installations where a full SAN would be overkill. The enclosures often hang straight off a PowerEdge server over SAS.
