Data platform

Palantir's civilian data platform — the same idea as Gotham but aimed at business, built around an "ontology" of the organization.

Foundry launched in the mid-2010s as Palantir's push beyond the government world. It gathers a company's scattered data into one layer and lays an ontology on top — a model of the organization's objects such as machines, orders and customers — so that analysts and decision systems alike can work against a single source of truth rather than a spreadsheet each.

Customers span aerospace, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and banking. Foundry is closely tied to the ETL and data-warehouse mindset but is sold as a whole rather than a component — which also makes it hard to leave. The government sibling is Gotham.
