The point-release openSUSE branch that has shared a binary core with SUSE's commercial Linux since 2015.

Leap arrived in 2015 as the counterpart to the rolling Tumbleweed: instead of a constant stream of updates you get numbered point releases (15.x) with a predictable lifespan. The unusual part is that Leap is built from the same source packages as SUSE Linux Enterprise (SLE) — a free distribution with a paid relative's stability.

From Leap 15.3 (2021) it went further and used SLE's compiled binaries outright, closing "the Leap gap" between the community and enterprise editions. Packages are managed with Zypper, the system is installed with YaST, and Btrfs provides snapshots through Snapper.
