An open marketplace for indie games where the developer sets the price, the revenue split — and even zero.
Leaf Corcoran built itch.io in 2013, largely single-handed, as a deliberately developer-friendly counterweight to the big stores: anyone can upload, the price can be "pay what you want", and the seller decides how large a cut the platform takes (defaulted but adjustable, all the way down to nothing). The site is the hub for game jams and experimental design. Its charity bundles — Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality (2020) and Bundle for Ukraine — raised millions. A reminder that digital distribution needn't mean 30 percent to the house.
