API service that delivers ready-made activity feeds and chat so developers don't rebuild the same social features from scratch.
Founded in 2015 by Thierry Schellenbach and Tommaso Barbugli, rooted in Schellenbach's earlier social site Fashiolista, where feed scaling turned into a problem worth solving for everyone else. The company is formally just called "Stream" but lives at getstream.io; it went through Techstars and is based in Boulder and Amsterdam.
Two products dominate: Instagram-style activity feeds and a full chat stack with moderation. Priced per active user, it absorbs the parts most teams underestimate — ordering, notifications and scale.
