Open-source notification infrastructure that puts email, SMS, push and in-app notifications behind one API and one workflow.
Founded in 2021 (originally under the name Notifire) by Dima Grossman and Tomer Barnea. The problem it solves is wearily familiar: every channel has its own provider and its own API, and the logic for "send a push, but email if it isn't read" sprawls across the whole codebase.
Novu adds a layer on top of the providers — SendGrid, Twilio, Firebase — with templates, routing and a ready-made in-app inbox. The core is open source, which is a large part of its appeal against closed rivals.
