Cato Networks

Security På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-23

Israeli firm that built a cloud of its own points of presence and sold networking plus security as one service — SASE before Gartner coined the word.

Founded in 2015 by Shlomo Kramer and Gur Shatz. Kramer is one of the industry's most decorated founders — he helped start Check Point in 1993 and Imperva in 2002, three security companies in a row. The thesis was that corporate traffic is moving to the cloud anyway, so the firewall, SD-WAN and secure web gateway should live there too, not in a box at every branch office.

Gartner only coined the term SASE in 2019, by which point Cato had been running the model for four years. It now competes with Zscaler and Netskope for the same customers. The whole point is a single console instead of a dozen point products.
