A company built on one awkward question: which cloud services are employees actually uploading the company's files to?

Sanjay Beri and three co-founders, several of them ex-Juniper, started Netskope in California in 2012, just as SaaS was creeping into companies on expense reports rather than through IT. The product was a CASB: a broker that sees which cloud apps traffic is heading to and can tell the corporate Dropbox account from someone's personal one.

Over time it grew into a full SSE platform with a web proxy, ZTNA and DLP, competing head-on with Zscaler and Palo Alto Networks. The Nasdaq listing didn't arrive until 2025, thirteen years and many funding rounds later.
