Founded in 1997 in California as SRC LLC by Dean Stoecker, Olivia Duane Adams and Ned Harding; the Alteryx name arrived in 2010. Its Designer product lets an analyst wire up ingestion, cleaning, blending and analysis as a visual workflow without writing SQL — the pitch was to shift the work from IT to the business side. It went public on the NYSE in 2017 riding the "citizen data science" wave, but growth stalled as cloud warehouses swallowed more of the stack. Clearlake and Insight Partners took it private in 2024 for about $4.4 billion.
