openSUSE's command-line package manager — zypper in is roughly what apt install is to the Debian world.
Zypper manages RPM packages and repositories on openSUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise. Under the hood sits the libzypp library, whose SAT-based dependency solver (libsolv) works out which packages have to come along — the same engine that YaST's software module uses. Commands like zypper in, zypper up and zypper dup became second nature from the mid-2000s on.
Where the Red Hat world moved from yum to dnf, SUSE stuck with zypper the whole way. dup (distribution upgrade) is especially prized in Tumbleweed's rolling model, where the entire system is lifted to the latest snapshot in one go.
