X (demoparty)

På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-02

A Dutch demoparty where the Commodore 64 is the only machine that counts.

X has been held in the Netherlands since the mid-1990s and has become the C64 scene's most important gathering. Where big parties like Revision split their competitions by platform, X is explicitly a C64 party: demo, music and graphics all compete on the same 8-bit hardware, and it is where groups save their biggest releases.

The party has not run every year, which turns each edition into an occasion. Several of the platform's most talked-about demos premiered there, among them Edge of Disgrace in 2008. That so many people still travel to Holland to watch new software on a computer from 1982 says something about the scene's stubbornness.
