Edge of Disgrace

På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-02

The 2008 C64 demo that showed a 25-year-old machine could still surprise people who thought they had seen everything.

Booze Design released Edge of Disgrace at the X party in 2008, where it won the C64 demo competition. It is a long trackmo that streams part after part off the floppy while the music keeps playing, mixing raster tricks, huge logos, 3D effects and quick transitions at a pace the hardware was never designed for.

It is regularly named alongside the great 1990s classics and has long sat at the top of CSDb's charts. Its standing rests less on any single effect than on the whole: direction, rhythm and coherent design on a machine with 64 KB of RAM and one SID chip, long after commercial game developers had abandoned the platform.
