A DOS terminal program that was, for a whole generation, the front door to the BBS world: dialling directory, ANSI graphics and file transfer in one.

Telix appeared in 1986 and was distributed as shareware by deltaComm Development. It had a dialling directory that would redial a busy board until it finally answered, built-in ANSI graphics, protocols like XMODEM and ZMODEM, and the SALT scripting language for automating logins.

It was one of the big three alongside Procomm Plus and Qmodem, and the choice was half technical, half tribal. Telix earned a reputation for solid ZMODEM transfers and for handling ANSI music, which meant a board could play a little tune through the PC speaker as you logged in.
