Farbrausch

Farbrausch's musician and audio coder, kb, whose V2 synthesizer solved the 64k intro's sound problem.

A 64k intro has no room for an audio file, so the music has to be synthesized in real time by code that itself takes up almost nothing. Hinrichs' answer was V2, a subtractive software synth with a tiny player linked into the executable, plus a VSTi version so the music could be written in an ordinary sequencer rather than in hex.

He wrote the soundtrack for fr-08: .the .product (2000) and the audio in .kkrieger. The fact that Farbrausch productions sounded like a studio rather than a piezo buzzer is a large part of why they still hold up. V2's source was released in 2012 along with the rest of the group's tools.
