Taiwanese maker that kicked off the tiny-computer trend in 2001 with its XPC cube.
Founded in 1983 as a motherboard maker. In 2001 it launched the XPC — a cube-shaped "barebone" a fraction of the size of a normal tower, with the motherboard, power supply, and cooling pre-fitted. The buyer only had to add a CPU, memory, and a drive.
The cube became a cult favorite and laid the groundwork for the whole small-form-factor (SFF) category, long before Intel's NUC. Shuttle still builds SFF and industrial PCs, now a niche rather than a trend.
