Second-tier Taiwanese motherboard maker, best known for budget boards and crypto-mining planks.

Founded in 1986. Biostar has always lived in the shadow of ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, and ASRock, with motherboards and graphics cards that compete on price rather than prestige.

During the 2017 crypto boom the company got a moment in the spotlight with boards built for mining — the likes of the TB250-BTC, with room for up to twelve graphics cards at once and useless for almost anything else. When the crypto price fell, that niche vanished with it.
