The Norwegian fabless firm that came to dominate Bluetooth Low Energy with its nRF chips.

Founded in 1983 in Trondheim as Nordic VLSI. The company broke through with the nRF24 series for cheap 2.4 GHz radio, then became almost synonymous with Bluetooth Low Energy through the nRF51, nRF52 and nRF53 lines — chips that sit inside remotes, fitness bands, toys and keyboards the world over. The nRF91 series added cellular IoT over LTE-M and NB-IoT.

Nordic designs the chips but leaves others to fabricate them, and trades on the Oslo exchange. For IoT radio it competes with Espressif and Silicon Labs, each with its own favourite niche.
