Kewlers
A Finnish PC demogroup best known for winning Assembly with a demo about a year most of the audience had forgotten.
Kewlers was one of the most productive Finnish PC groups of the 2000s. Their style was playful, rough around the edges and often self-mocking, a long way from the polished blockbuster look other groups were going for at the time. They competed mostly at home, at Assembly in Helsinki.
Their best-known production is "1995", made with the group mfx, which won Assembly in 2006. It's a tribute to the mid-90s PC scene, with low-resolution graphics, tracker music and effects that look like they came from a 486, all built on modern hardware with a lot of careful timing. It was an early example of the scene making demos about its own history.
