Kefrens

På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-04

A Danish Amiga group that made demo history twice: once with Desert Dream and once with an effect named after it.

Kefrens belonged to the Danish Amiga scene of the late 1980s and early 1990s, when Denmark was one of the platform's strongest countries and The Party was held there. The group's best-known work is Desert Dream, shown at The Party 1993 and still ranked among the finest demos for a stock Amiga 500.

The name survives mostly through Kefrens bars, the wriggling column in which each raster line draws a single bar. It is an odd kind of immortality. Most people who recognise the word have never seen the demo it comes from, much as everyone knows what a sandwich is without knowing which earl it was.
