Desert Dream

På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-03

Amiga demo by the Danish group Kefrens from 1993, one of the best-loved on the platform.

It was released at The Party 1993 and ran on a stock Amiga 500. The framing is a desert journey: each part is a stop along the way, held together by music and imagery rather than by a technical record.

It turned the effect that carries the group's name, Kefrens bars, into a classic, but it is the direction that made it last — the transitions, the pacing and the sense of one continuous trip at a time when many demos were still effect, effect, effect with a scroller in between. Desert Dream is regularly named alongside State of the Art as the high point of the original Amiga before the AGA machines took over.
