Founded in 2016 out of Y Combinator, with Kwindla Hultman Kramer among the co-founders. Daily handles the tedious parts of WebRTC — media servers, NAT traversal, recording — and offers both drop-in call widgets and low-level APIs. It competes with Agora, LiveKit and the video side of Twilio.
Since the LLM boom the company has pivoted toward realtime voice agents, maintaining the open-source Pipecat framework for exactly that — talking AI, where the latency between human and model is the whole game.
