Fires push notifications, email and in-app messages triggered by what a user does in an app — the marketing machinery behind the notification you just got.

Started in 2011 under the name Appboy at a New York hackathon, and renamed itself Braze in 2017 — an anagram of "zebra", chosen mainly because the domain was available. The platform ingests behavioural data from mobile apps and websites and fires messages in real time based on segments and event flows. It is the same category that used to be called marketing automation, but built for apps rather than email lists.

The company went public on the Nasdaq in November 2021. Competition comes from Twilio Segment, Iterable and OneSignal.
