Cloud service for work and project management, built by two early Facebook engineers out to cure their own meeting fatigue.
Dustin Moskovitz (a Facebook co-founder) and Justin Rosenstein (the man behind Facebook's Like button, among other things) started the company in 2008 after building an internal task tool at Facebook. The product organises work into projects, tasks and timelines and competes with Jira, Trello and Monday for the same desktop real estate. The name is borrowed from a yoga pose — a deliberately calm brand in a category full of rockets and lightning bolts. The company went public through a direct listing on the NYSE in 2020 under the ticker ASAN.
