Hangzhou company known for surprisingly cheap quadruped robots and humanoids — and for dancing robots on Chinese New Year TV.

Unitree (宇树科技) was founded in 2016 by Wang Xingxing and quickly became known for quadruped robots in the Boston Dynamics mould but at a fraction of the price — models like the Go1 and Go2 cost thousands of dollars rather than tens of thousands. The H1 and G1 humanoids followed later.

The company is counted among Hangzhou's "six little dragons," the same cluster of tech firms that DeepSeek belongs to. It reached a mass audience when its humanoids danced at CCTV's 2025 New Year gala. The low-price strategy has made Unitree a favourite among researchers and hobbyists, while also raising questions about robots cheap enough to spread at scale.
