Security vendor formed in 2022 when private-equity firm STG merged McAfee Enterprise with FireEye's product business.

The name nods to a trellis — the lattice you let climbing plants grow on — and the company pitches a "living" XDR platform that correlates signals across endpoint, email, network and cloud. The backstory is a long dismantling: Symphony Technology Group bought FireEye's products arm in 2021, whereupon FireEye renamed itself Mandiant (later acquired by Google), and STG stitched the remains together with McAfee's enterprise unit to make Trellix. The same owner simultaneously spun McAfee's cloud and SSE business out as Skyhigh Security. The result is a large but bolted-together portfolio rather than a single idea.
