Stytch was founded in 2020 by Reed McGinley-Stempel and Julianna Lamb, both out of Plaid. The thesis is that the password is the root of most breaches, so the company builds primitives for everything else: magic links, one-time codes, OAuth, WebAuthn and passkeys.
It targets developers who want to retire the password form entirely. It competes with Auth0, Clerk and WorkOS over the same login layer, but with a pure passwordless angle.
