Robert Graham

Security På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-17

American security researcher who wrote BlackICE, demonstrated sidejacking and built masscan to sweep all of IPv4 in minutes.

In the late 1990s Graham wrote the BlackICE intrusion detection system at Network ICE, which ISS bought in 2001. At Black Hat 2007 he used two tools, Ferret and Hamster, to show how to hijack logged-in web sessions by sniffing cookies on open Wi-Fi — three years before Firesheep turned the same trick into a browser extension.

In 2013 he released masscan, a port scanner with its own asynchronous TCP stack that, by his account, can cover the entire IPv4 space in under six minutes, provided the network survives. He runs Errata Security and its blog, where he is fond of explaining why a headline vulnerability is less serious — or more serious — than the press thinks.
