Swedish-founded threat intelligence company that reads the internet at machine scale and sells the conclusions.
Christopher Ahlberg and Staffan Truvé, who had previously built the analytics tool Spotfire, founded the company in 2009 with offices in Boston and Gothenburg. The idea was to collect news articles, forums, code repositories, criminal marketplaces and technical indicators and link them into forecasts. Early backers included Google's venture arm and the CIA's In-Q-Tel, a detail nobody has quite managed to forget.
The product settled on threat intelligence: which APT groups are targeting whom, which CVEs are actually being exploited and which ransomware gangs are leaking what. Its research arm, Insikt Group, publishes widely cited reports. Mastercard bought the company in 2024 for about $2.65 billion.
