Japanese industrial group whose MELSEC PLCs and CC-Link networks are standard kit on factory floors.

Spun out of Mitsubishi's shipbuilding business in 1921, today a broad electronics conglomerate spanning everything from lifts and satellites to semiconductors. In factory automation the MELSEC line of PLCs — especially the compact FX models — is widely deployed, alongside GOT touch panels, MELSERVO servo drives and MELFA robots.

The company runs the CC-Link fieldbus and its Ethernet successor CC-Link IE, most common across Asia. Few makers cover so much of the shop floor from one catalogue: control, drives, sensing and robotics.
