Taiwanese ODM group behind servers, ruggedized devices, and GPS brands like Mio and Magellan.

Founded in 1982. MiTAC builds servers and data-center hardware for others — it owns the motherboard maker Tyan — but to consumers it's best known through the brands it controls: the Mio, Magellan, and Navman GPS navigators.

The group is tangled up with Getac (rugged laptops) and Synnex in a web of Taiwanese firms that share factories and owners, led by Matthew Miau. As so often in this trade, the logo on the box is rarely the one that built what's inside.
