The Silicon Valley analog specialist that rival Analog Devices swallowed in 2021.

Founded in 1983 in San Jose by Jack Gifford among others. Maxim built analog and mixed-signal chips — power management, interface, sensors and the well-known DS-series real-time clocks and 1-Wire parts. Its products sat in everything from phones to industrial gear.

In 2021 Maxim was bought by Analog Devices in an all-stock deal worth around $21 billion, one of the industry's largest. The brand survives in product names, but the company no longer exists on its own.
