Lovebyte

På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-02

An online party devoted entirely to sizecoding, where 256 bytes counts as a generous budget.

Lovebyte first ran in February 2021, at a time when the pandemic had pushed most demoparties online anyway. Competitions are split by size rather than platform — 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 and 512 bytes, plus 1K — on everything from MS-DOS and the C64 to fantasy consoles. Alongside the compos there are seminars and live-streamed breakdowns of how the tiniest intros actually work.

It filled a gap. Tiny intros had long been a side category at big parties; here they became the headline act, with an explicit aim of drawing in new coders. Explaining a 64-byte program usually takes far longer than running it.
