Denmark's Humio was founded in 2016 on a contrarian bet: skip the heavy indexes that Splunk and Elastic build at ingest, and instead scan compressed logs fast at query time. That makes ingestion cheap and scalable, and live queries can stream matches as fresh rows keep arriving.
CrowdStrike acquired Humio in 2021 for around $400 million and renamed it Falcon LogScale in 2022, using it as the engine behind its next-generation SIEM. The Humio name still lingers in documentation and APIs.
