Remote access
Successor
GoTo (2022)

Remote-access company that swallowed LastPass and GoToMeeting and eventually renamed itself after the latter.

Launched in 2003 and built a string of tools for reaching computers and networks remotely — including the Hamachi VPN service. The company grew mostly by acquisition: the LastPass password manager in 2015, and Citrix's spun-off meeting and support products (GoToMeeting, GoToMyPC), which merged with LogMeIn in 2017.

In 2022 the whole group renamed itself GoTo, turning the original name into a footnote. LastPass was later spun back out as its own company after a couple of high-profile breaches. The story is a textbook case of how the remote-access market consolidated: few left standing on their own, most acquired or merged.
