The Swiss-American company behind a large share of the world's mice, keyboards and webcams — the things you touch all day without wondering who made them.

Founded in 1981 in Apremont, Switzerland, by two Italians and a Swiss, the company started out building mice that other computer makers sold under their own names. When graphical interfaces made the mouse mandatory, Logitech was already on the factory floor, and it has since shipped mice by the billion.

Its Unifying receiver, introduced in 2009, let one tiny USB dongle serve six devices. In 2016 the security firm Bastille showed with MouseJack that several such receivers would happily accept unencrypted keystrokes from anyone within radio range — a reminder that peripherals are attack surface too.
