An early-nineties Unix list manager that let universities run LISTSERV-style mailing lists without an IBM mainframe.

LISTSERV was the standard for academic mailing lists, but it ran on IBM's VM/CMS and was closely tied to BITNET. As more institutions moved their services onto Unix boxes, Anastasios Kotsikonas wrote ListProcessor, which accepted emailed commands like subscribe and signoff in much the same way.

Later versions were taken over by CREN, the organisation running BITNET, and sold commercially. It was poor timing to start charging: the free Majordomo already existed and did the same job. ListProc survives mostly as a name in old instructions on how to unsubscribe.
