LCD Liquid Crystal Display
The display tech that replaced CRTs in the 2000s — liquid crystals that block or pass backlight.
Variants: IPS (good colours, wide viewing angle), VA (high contrast), TN (fast but worse colours — gaming). Needs a backlight (usually LED). OLED is the competitor — every pixel emits light itself.
