- Naming BlueKeep, Follina and ProxyNotShell
The British defender who names the vulnerabilities the rest of the industry then talks about.
As GossiTheDog, Beaumont became one of the most-read voices in security during the 2010s, largely because he writes for the people who have to fix things rather than the people selling tools. In 2017 he scanned the internet for the NSA implant DoublePulsar and showed how many machines were already backdoored. He named the RDP flaw BlueKeep (2019), the Office bug Follina (2022, after the Italian town whose dialling code appeared in the sample's filename) and the Exchange pair ProxyNotShell.
He spent 2020–2021 in Microsoft's threat intelligence team and has since been one of its sharpest critics, over ProxyLogon and Recall among other things. Since leaving Twitter he has run the Mastodon instance cyberplace.social.
