Jesper Kyd

På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-03

Danish composer who went from the Amiga demoscene to scoring Hitman and Assassin's Creed.

Jesper Kyd started out as a musician in the Danish demoscene around 1990, in the Amiga group The Silents, writing tracker music in the MOD format for demos and intros. From there the path led to game music, first in Europe and then in the US.

The breakthrough was Hitman (2000), whose brooding mix of orchestra and electronics became the series' signature. He went on to score Assassin's Creed II and Borderlands. Kyd is one of the clearest examples of the scene musician pipeline into the games industry — a school where you learned to write a lot of music in very little memory.
