Taiwanese ODM that has quietly built vast numbers of laptops and servers for other people's brands.
Founded in 1975 and for years one of HP's most important laptop partners. An ODM — original design manufacturer — does more than an EMS: it designs the product itself, after which the customer slaps a logo on it and sells it as its own.
Inventec has also built servers for hyperscale data centers and, through its sister company Inventec Appliances, assembled everything from iPod players to mobile phones. One of those names the public never sees but is forever holding in its hand.
