Intel Foundry IFS
Intel's comeback strategy to become a foundry for others (not just for its own chips). Pat Gelsinger launched in 2021; it has been dramatic.
Roadmap: Intel 7 → Intel 4 → Intel 3 → Intel 20A → Intel 18A (HD mass-prod 2025). 18A includes RibbonFET (GAA) + PowerVia (backside power delivery). New fabs in Arizona, Ohio (delayed to 2030+), Israel, Germany (cancelled 2024). Customers: Microsoft (custom AI chip), DoD. Gelsinger fired December 2024 after stock crash. Competitors: TSMC, Samsung.
