South Korean challenger whose inference chips aim to take on Nvidia on large language models — and reportedly turned down Meta.

Founded in 2017 in Seoul by June Paik, formerly of AMD and Samsung. Its first-generation Warboy was a modest vision NPU; the second-generation RNGD ("Renegade") targets large-language-model inference, built around high memory bandwidth and low power per token.

The company made headlines in 2025 when it reportedly declined an acquisition offer from Meta of around $800 million and chose to stay independent. That makes Furiosa one of the few non-US outfits trying to break into data-center AI silicon — a market Nvidia effectively owns, and where access to leading-edge fabrication counts as much as the architecture.
