Farbrausch's breakthrough: a 64-kilobyte intro from 2000 that looked like a demo a hundred times its size.

Released at The Party in Denmark in December 2000, it won the PC 64k intro competition. The novelty was that almost nothing was stored: textures were generated procedurally at startup from a short description of how to build them, and the music came from a home-grown software synth rather than samples.

That approach – a visual tool that outputs a recipe rather than a finished file – became the foundation for Werkkzeug and later .kkrieger. After .the .product nobody could be quite sure what fit in 64 KB any more, and the category never looked the same again.
