Forter
Ecommerce fraud prevention that returns a yes or no per order in real time and reimburses the merchant when a yes was wrong.
Michael Reitblat, Liron Damri and Alon Shemesh founded Forter in 2013, with offices in New York and Tel Aviv. Forter and Riskified are each other's closest rivals and sell much the same promise: fully automated decisions instead of manual review, plus a chargeback guarantee on whatever gets approved. The difference is mostly in the sales deck. Forter prefers to talk about identity, recognising the same person across many merchants, rather than about individual transactions.
It was valued at $3 billion in 2021, at the height of the pandemic shopping boom. The customer list leans towards large retailers, where one extra percentage point of approval rate is worth more than the vendor's entire fee.
