Security På svenska → Updated: 2026-10-14

EFF's director of cybersecurity, who got the antivirus industry to start treating stalkerware as the malware it is.

Galperin heads cybersecurity at the Electronic Frontier Foundation and has long worked with those who have the most to lose: journalists, activists and people targeted by state surveillance, including tracking spyware aimed at civil society.

Her best-known campaign is against stalkerware — apps a partner installs covertly to read messages and follow someone's location. The industry had long waved them through as legitimate "parental controls". After her public pressure the Coalition Against Stalkerware was formed in 2019, and several major antivirus vendors began flagging the apps. The threat model "someone in your home who knows your passcode" had simply been missing from most security products.
