dtksh
CDE's desktop KornShell — an ordinary Unix shell with built-in commands for building Motif windows.
dtksh was based on KornShell 93 and added built-ins that mirrored the Xt and Motif functions almost one for one: XtInitialize, XmCreatePushButton, XtAddCallback. A shell script could open dialogs, read forms and react to button presses without a line of C. It shipped with CDE on Solaris, HP-UX, AIX and Tru64.
The idea was the same as Tcl/Tk's: let the sysadmin knock together a GUI in a scripting language. But where Tk offered a short syntax of its own, dtksh expected you to understand Xt's callback model and Motif's resources. It ended up as a tool for people who already wrote Motif programs in C, and hardly anyone else. Tcl/Tk won, and dtksh faded out along with CDE.
