Israeli security company that more or less defined the market for locking up and watching over administrator accounts.
The core idea is a digital vault: passwords for domain admins, root and service accounts are locked away, checked out for a single session, rotated afterwards, and every action is recorded. The category is called privileged access management (PAM), and CyberArk has long been its largest vendor.
The need becomes obvious after every major breach: attackers who get in through an ordinary user move sideways with tools like Mimikatz until they find an admin account. The company listed on Nasdaq in 2014. In 2025 Palo Alto Networks announced a deal to buy it for around $25 billion.
