Crucial is the channel through which Micron — one of the three big makers of DRAM and NAND flash — reaches home builders without a middleman. The upside is silicon from its own fabs rather than bought-in chips. The MX and BX lines have long been recommended budget SSDs; the Ballistix memory brand was shut down in 2021 when Micron pulled out of gaming RAM. It competes with Samsung, Kingston and SanDisk on the same shelves.
