A Slovenian CDN with a rabbit logo and pricing that lured small sites away from the big providers.
It launched in Slovenia in 2015 as BunnyCDN, a no-frills CDN billed per gigabyte with no sales calls involved. While Akamai sold to enterprises and Cloudflare to everyone with a free tier, Bunny aimed at the middle: developers and smaller businesses who wanted invoices they could understand. It became bunny.net in 2021 as the lineup grew to storage, video streaming, DNS and edge scripting.
Its best-known side project is Bunny Fonts, a tracking-free mirror of Google Fonts launched after German courts held that embedding Google-hosted fonts sends visitors' IP addresses to the US in breach of GDPR. A European company selling European compliance — that's a niche.
